Like many people, I’m a big fan of Trader Joes and there are certain foods I regularly purchase at TJs because I can’t find them anywhere else. This week I’m sharing the top favorites I buy to feed my family.
Quinoa Black Bean Chips
My Daughter refers to them as the “black chips, ” and she loves them to be included with her lunch. It’s hard to go wrong with black bean and quinoa baked right in.
Oven Baked Cheese Bites
One of my new favorite finds. Packed full of calcium and protein, just crispy oven baked cheese no other additives. If you are a cheese lover like I am, you’ll love these.
Bag of small avocados
I’m an avocado a day type of person and my daughter loves them too. Avocados are packed full of Vitamin E and Essential fatty acids. It’s hard to keep avocados around at our house, and I hate to have them go bad. This small size makes eating one a day an easy task to prevent waste.
Trader Joes is the spot to go for a variety of nuts. I usually buy 3-4 bags at a time and mix them all. Their sesame covered cashews are a personal favorite and my daughter likes them too. My oldest has been enjoying TJ’s oven roasted almonds lately. I love stocking up on seeds as well, especially pumpkin seeds found in the nut section. Nuts and seeds make great snacks and are a great source of protein and healthy fats.
Morning Oat Crunch
This cereal is a crunchy square and I combine it into trail mixes to make snack bags for my family. With 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of Fiber, it’s a win.
Peanut butter filled pretzels
This is a great portable snack because it contains a healthy combination of protein, carbs and fats that provides a great lasting energy snack I like to pack for my child at school. They do allow peanuts in her classroom, (not all schools do).
I was shocked when my daughter liked these oven roasted garbanzo beans. Chickpeas are a valuable source of protein and fiber.
Bag of small apples
I love these small apples which my oldest will ask to take to school for her snack. Larger apples seem such a waste since she only eats half so these are a perfect size.
Dark Chocolate Honey Mint
These contain only 3 simple ingredients. Honey, Dark chocolate and mint. Simple and delicious, everyone loves them.
Harvest Grains Quinoa
This bag of Israeli style couscous, orzo, baby garbanzo beans and red quinoa makes an easy side dish with grilled chicken or fish. I add chicken broth for a little flavor, simmer covered for 10 minutes and it’s good to go.
Sunflower Seed Butter
This is a favorite “dip-able” peanut alternative. It’s a great source of protein and I love it with apples and bananas. I have a few favorite energy bite recipes that have this as an ingredient, so I always keep it on hand.
